My accomplishments

I was leaving class today and I a little bit of time to sit and think to myself about what is going on in my life and at this point in my life I am about to finish my first year of college. Beside my sister I am the only to make it this far this is a big accomplishment for me and my family. I think feel confident in my abilities to finish college and make something of myself as long as I do not have any math classes in the future. Other than that I am good. I am happy to be able to call myself a sophomore in college I am happy that I was able to keep a 3.1 grade point average in my first semester of my freshman year, and I am on my way to getting a 3.0 or higher on my second semester of my freshman that is if I do well on my finals. I am so happy that I am able to finish at least one year of college and walk away with something. Besides education there is so much that I have learned from being here in college.

Last one

The last blog of the year I never thought that I was going to see this day. I never thought this day was going to come I am so happy that the last week of school. This is the end of my first year of school and man this is something that I will never get used to this is something that I could not do for the rest of my life. I only have 3 years left and I really do not want to do these last three years but I really do not have a choice so I am like skip it college is college the stories are real. I thought it was going to be difficult but I never thought that it was going to be like this but I am down to my last week and that is all that matters. I really can not wait for the next three years the first one went by so fast I hope the rest follows but still it has and for ever will be the class of 07 on mine but now it is 11 but that is okay because we will make it do what it do.

Going home means a lot to me because I do not get to go home every weekend like the average person can I have track meets over the weekends and when I do not have track meets to go to I am again 7 hours away I would only get about a couple of hours to sleep then I am on my way back home. Another reason is if I go home I can get a job and get money that has been my quote/phase all year has been to get money. Again football will prevent me from getting a job and because I will be suck here all summer and I would be focusing on playing ball and that will leave me with no time at all to get a job. Even with me running track I would not be able to get a job all that running makes me tried enough and running track at the college level is not joke. You never have anytime to sit on and if you do most of the time you are not doing something that you should be doing and that is going to catch up with you if you keep on doing it.

I live 7 hours from here and man it is so hard to understand why I decided to go so far from home. I understand what it is like to be home sick I am only home sick because school is about to close and I feel like shutting down but I can not because the teachers will not let me they keep giving out work like it is the beginning of the year I wish they would not do that but it seems like they do not care what day it is they are going to give out work like there is no tomorrow. I a m ready to go and see all my old friends but there are a lot on the line for me if I go home there is a lot from trying out for the football team to making it to regional and nationals in track and doing one or the other of those would really give me more money for school and that is something that all of us could use right now because college cost a lot and money does not grow on trees. I do not have money to spare like that and I know that going home is not going to help matters of me making money, but I do not know about you but I am ready to go home

And so I goes that the young and great Derrick Rose is going to the NBA Draft I do not know why it seems to be a surprise to all the people of Memphis he did not want to go to college he just can to get the college world hype and to get his name out to all who did not know about him and he did a good of that because everybody wants him on there team. Now as far as leaving he is getting paid lots of money to dribble a ball up and down a court and try to shoot a ball in to a small round hoop now anybody what would you do stay in college sorry but HELL NAW they would that basket ball and have the time of there life all we can do is tell D-Rose that it was fun having you here I wish some of the games would have went differently but it is what it is have fun in the NBA and do yo thang like there is no tomorrow take off and do not look about Memphis did its job and got you the exposures and you put Memphis higher on the map than what it was before thanks and good bye.

weather man

I am starting to get the weather that I can down here for. I like the warm weather and that is one of the reason that I can to Memphis I know about the 28 days of being 100 degrees or hotter but that does not seem to bother me I can take this weather it is nothing to me. I like the weather I like the Barbeque that I have had down here. If anything I wish the food down here was a lil bit more spicy just like in Louisiana The home of the Cajun food that is one of the negatives but the positives out weight the negative I would live in Tennessee if I had a good enough reason without complaining living in the Memphis I really do not know about that just yet I would have to take along sleep and see how I felt in the morning before I would make my decision like that. But the now that it is warming up down here I got a reason the smile because that is all I want was warm weather and I chance to wear shorts. I know I could go some place else like California But I am on the Westside and I do not feel like doing all of that moving all at once and I am already here so I will make the best of the situation.

I have been here for my first year and when it comes to athletes I see the same few people over and over but the thing is that is a small portion of people that I see and there are a lot of athletes that are at the University of Memphis and I my see like 50 of them at the most everday. I had class with D rose last semester and that was probably the only basket ball player I have seen besides on tv and today I saw taggert and Pierre that was a surprising to me. Why? I could not tell you but the thing is they are not that big of celebrities’ as I thought they were going to the tiger den and they did not have a big crowd of people following them people really did not say anything to them the most they did in that time frame that I seen them was a nod if that much it is funny how we hype them up and they are really just normal people like the rest of us. I see football players all the time and the only why I know they are football players is from the bowl game gear and the fact that we go to tutoring together and they do not run track so I figured that they have play football they are just another face.

A couple of days ago one of my track teammates became an Ex-teammate all because he took of his shirt. I know rules are rules by there are different ways to look at them. You can see rules the were made to be broken rules were made to be followed or my favorite rules are more like guide lines to becoming a good person but anyone of those will do. But when you decided to break a rule and you apologize for your mistake and you still get kicked off the team because you have to much pride in yourself to accept it that is not fair to that person and I think something should be done about it you cal this place a business but what kind of business are you to cut one of your best players. That is something I guess that I will understand when I get older because right now I do not see where he his coming from that is like cutting Randy Moss from the Patriots because he was late to practice and the rules state be on time…Man I do not think all that was necessary but I am only a freshman what do I know but just like Lil Wayne said

Kansas is the real team to beat that is where I am from and that is how we get down you can never count us out the game is never over til the clock say 0.00 and as you all saw yesterday that is the truth and the whole truth. the countdown begins

Well as you know the end of the year is coming up and most people start to slack on their work and I am one of those people I am one of the biggest slackers in the world. If you notice that I am talking about the same thing over and over in my blogs I am surprised that no1 has noticed that yet I guess no1 is reading my blogs so what is the point of me writing these you know I know that it is late but I am just now getting to understand what people are talking about when they were complaining about this being a lot it is just the topics in general. I know I was bragging about me being a writer being able to write about anything and that is okay because I am doing it write now you see it is nothing to me this story has not plot or story behind it is just a lil warm up for when I got to write something serious I will have my writing on point but when you are someone like me that is never the case you can write till you pass out.

I have just started my first year in track and I think I do have a future but I really do not want it because track gets boring after a while and the coach does not make it fun that is the whole point of me signing because I thought that I was going to have fun and turn some heads and put Memphis track team on the map but I guess that is not going to work because of the attitude of everone around me and the attitude that I have about this place but I will try and holds mine down so can do big things and maybe that will help my attitude and the attitude of the ones around me because I am a very exciting person to watch run because you will neva know what I am going to do next. years left

I am happy this is the end of my first year in college I am going to be a sophomore in a lil bit I am hype for it. Even thou I do not wanna be here any more I guess I do not have a choice to make the best out of the situation and I think that the football team will be enough for me because I believe that I will have the fuel to stay here for the rest of my years. I know the football team is not the best team to play for but I just got that love for the game and I hate to quit something I started even if comin here was a mistake. I gotta do it I got one of the fastest forties at the school I know that I can run a 4.3 of faster but they do not know that not because I aint told them yet it is because they do not wanna hear it. Yea I know that I missed the tryouts that is because I was running track you think that would be enough for them to say okay and try to work something out but naw they aint saying nothing but I got 3 years left lets see what happens..

Set it off

Everybody has a set off word. Some of you may already know what I am talking about and know what their set off word is, but there are some that do not know what I am talking about. Most people do not know what means but let me explain what that means. A set off word is a word that no1 can call you and if some one calls you that you get mad as hell. I did not really know what that was until I can down here and my R.A. told me about it but he is from up north and I think that is an up north thing but everyone has one take a few minutes and think what you set off word is there maybe a few but it really should not be any more than 2 maybe 3… 4 is pushing it I know some people that have the smallest word for a set off word and when you say it you will not even know you said it to that person. I know my friend he is black and his set off word is the N word yes he hates to be called a nigga or anything related to that word I met this one girl and her set off word is liar. These words maybe small and little to you but think yours maybe just as small but it can make you go off on somebody just think now what is yours…..

2 of a kind

This is a late blog yea I know but this is about the poet that we had visit us at the rose theatre he seem like a really nice person beside the fact that he really can comprehend some things as fast as others and the he can not remember much. I can look past that being one writer to another regardless if he is a poet and I am a story writer we both go through the same things at times. But he came back up to the campus for an interview and to answer random questions for those who had them and one of the question that I remember being asked was “How the can still writer and produce excellent wok have a slow brain”. He answer something like this “Before I had my brain problem I was throwing out stories/poems like clockwork and now that everything comes to me slower I feel like I have the time to reread things and come up with better work than what I had when I was thinking at 100%.” To me that say that, you can produce work bit if you wait and be patience you can find more than what you are looking for you may even find flaws that you would never see because you are going to fast and you will be able to find inspiration for your next story. When it comes to being a writer you never stop writing and you will never know when something is going to hit you for inspiration for you to put into your current story or the next one you will are looking forward to start.

Ask question

We had a guess speaker in class last week. We called him Dr. Lorde or something with Lorde (sorry about the spelling) but he came and talked with our class, and the topic he talked to us about was public schools and his opinion on them. Really he said that public schools are not bad there are standards that school need to be met and some schools are not meeting the requirements but that is not really the schools fault there are reasons to why the schools are not getting the credit that they really deserve and that is the simple fact that the schools are testing the children before they learn it is a tell me what you know and I will teach you whatever it is you do not know and that can hurt some of the schools test scores if you pay attention some schools give out test at the beginning of the school year and they start teaching from the test scores. He compared us the other countries and show us that we really stereotype some of the other countries some countries think that everybody and everything is an engineer, while we think differently on who we consider who is and who is not an engineer. But what puzzled me the most was his opinion on public schools was the fact that he put his daughter in home school……Why!? I could not tell you that is just some food for knowledge!! EAT UP!!

Letter of Apology

It goes to show that people do read the blogs and the comments that we leave on these cites. I know that I was one of the few people that believed that this was a waste of time but an easy grade because a write such as myself can write all day everyday. This is a direct apology to Alshli blow it appears that I commented on one of her blogs and in the blogs I must have hurt her feels with some of the my choice words but it was not meant to be that way at all when you get to know me I am a very goofy person can sometimes take it too far and I in this case I did. I hope that you can accept my apology and forget this has every happened. I would never try to insult your intelligence especially if I do not know who you are and if I do not know you I do not play games like that so please forgive. I hope I have not lost all respect from you and there is some kind of forgiveness in you so that you will not hate me for the rest of you life. And again before I leave I am sorry.

The dis on Wendy

Things are getting crazy the day that I miss class the teacher want to throw out work like it is something that we do everday I think she had that planned. You ever had a teacher that you can feel the hatred coming from her. Well this aint that type of teacher she wants to wait til I aint in class to give out all the work in the world. I know she like me that is the whole point of her giving me all this work to do it is like she wants me to fail so she can have me back in her class. I am her best student in her teachin career so I can see why she would want to keep me. But she I aint going to let her feelings get the better of this situation so sry Wendy I will not let you win this war you won the battle but it aint over til the end of the year cause we are in the final month of class and this is were the men are separated from the boys I do not cave in under pressure I am clutch and I will improve watch wait and see but don’t worry when I make it out of this class. I will still come and visit you just keep me up on game and I will be in touch I will always be a phone call away. PAPERS

This paper that we are working on in Wendy’s class is me I think I am going to go crazy this paper is MIND BOLLTING yes I said it MIND BOTTLING!!!! What am I suppose to do when this I get stuck again I am at 7 pages and I really do not think that I said anything I go over and read what I type and it seem like all I am saying is bla bla bla. This is really my confidence on writing papers and how I think that I can write and talk on anything. This paper has brought me to the point to where I am questioning myself and my skill as a writer. I can do my blogs easily but when it comes to this paper it is like what the f@#k!! I am think that I am about go crazy I can not keep doing this is 40% of our grades and now that time is winding down I feel the pressure and I am really think that I can not do it. Why do teachers do this to us why do they give us so much work I know they do not spend there feel time grading papers and I know Wendy can not afford the time to chill and grade papers she has a daughter to look after so why not make the work load easier and look after the kid. I know I aint the only one that thinks this some1 people give a comment.

Now with the season starting a lot of people will start to fear me but know the hype is going to calm down because I proved myself there is nothing left for me to do but win a conference regional and national title that is harder than it looks. Even with all the background experience that I have I have been named multiple times as being an all American and when I ran aau I was a 2 time regional champion so this right here is nothing I know what it is like to have pressure on m y shoulders I am one of the clutches people in the world there is ice in my veins it is nothing to a G like me. I have been down there have been time were I thought that I was going to snap and flop and be nothing but after today I know that I am the truth and I can not be stopped. So now with those being the main and major goal one that is above all of those is money the price an education is priceless. We get killed in practice everyday just to run a race that no one cares about but the other runners and the coaches the coach them. We do it for the money and that is the whole point of me running track and coming to Memphis and with this money it can and will go to my education.

Okay it goes like this I had my first college track meet in my career and I got second place. Yea I know I am a beast that is why I am called “The Champ” I am only a freshman and I am already doing big things. Yea it is only second place but there are so many things that go into effect into why I am so happy for my second place. For starters people kept doubting me and that is always good for me to shut people up especially the ones that are always doubting you so that is a good thing. Next is the fact that I was always losing in practice and that goes into the doubters a little bit because when I said wait and see they would run off at the mouth and another thing. I talk the most trash and now that I did what I did it is okay for me to talk all the head I want as long as I back it u. I never run hard in practice so it was good to run against people and make them feel bad on the fact that they were beaten by a freshman that should make them feel bad. With the outstanding time that I ran I have just qualified for the 21 and under Olympics!!!!!!!!!! That says a lot I also have one if not the fastest time in my conference in my event. pt1

class discussion

In class we talked about war and how we are suppose to be a Christian nation and what that means to use. It is going to be hard to explain this without starting and argument and if I offend anyone that reads this oh well you should stop reading now. I think being a Christian nation is a bunch of bull crap that is something people say just to get that extra vote because most of the people in the united states Christian and using that is a chump move. This is just my opinion on politics and once again this is just my opinion how you going to call yourself a Christian if some I think you are the anti Christ and you are rushing the books of the bible to happen faster than what are suppose to move. But hey you guys voted for him so I guess everything is happening on schedule and just how the man up stairs wanted it. But even with all the negative things going on in the bible doesn’t make it right that is him showing us what it was like back then when people did not believe in his word and that runs from war to prostitution to straight disobedience when he said don’t touch or eat from the tree. In other words war and all negativity should not be force praised or even put into action because that is not what is wanted.

the come and set back

You know is hard to come up in the game you know every time you try and do something things never turn out the right way for you and you get lil hits and signs that will say try again later or leave it alone all together. That is the type of situation that I am in right now. It is like this I was suppose to get my tattoo 2 weeks ago and the first time my boys left and they could come to I put if off till this week and when this weekend gets here I loose my money and now I got to start saving up all ova again but I think this was a learning experience because I learned not to keep a lot of money on me at one time because anything can happen. Now that I am trying to build my money back up I it is going to take another month before I get my tattoo and after the tattoo I am going to grow my hair out and she where that goes but I know at first I had my hair long I had twistes but I was stressing so I had to cut it and now that I am not stressing any more I think that was one of those situation that meant try again later and see what happens now that my hair is twistable I know that I can get then, but I am waiting til it gets a lil bit longer but I should have my tat before the twistes come but if I know for a fact that I want both of them

Picking up the pieces to a puzzle is hard the reason that I am saying this for the simple fact that opening and starting anything is the easy part but the deeper you go into dept with the puzzle the harder it gets. This is what it feels like right now because we are so far into the year we are starting to close out and the fact that there is less and less time for the things to get done it is harder to manage your time because time is moving faster than expect that can cause grades to drop because of the shorten time that the student may not be used to. Going back to the puzzle when you are making progress on doing a puzzle the gaps slowly get smaller and that cause you to start forcing pieces and for you to stop and leave whatever you were doing alone and come back later and when doing school work if you do not come back in enough time your going to forget and not get back to it in time and that is really going to mess up your future plans and that can be a big difference between you taking a class over again or barely passing a class or even keeping that grade that you have in that class the main point is that the year is ending and the time to mess up is over it is time to knuckle down quit the grab ass and get it cracking on the work that you got to do in whatever class it may be in…

The champ is back

This is the beginning of a new work week and I just wanna see if last week was a fluke it was so hard for me to write for 200 words so now that I am back in a good rhythm I wanna see if I can write for 200 words easy. Now I really do not know what to talk about, for my 200 words I think my skills are slowly making there way back to me. When you know as much as me it takes a little bit long than the average person to get all the writing skills that a successful writer such as myself has so just wait and be patience and I will have the amazing stories every1 loves to read. I really can not say if it will be back by the next writing assignment but I think it will be easier than writing this one but I think if I had to rate writing this on a scale from one to ten I think I would rate this as a 7 it is coming so easily but it id taking to long for me to write it even with my bad typing I am better than this. The positive about it is that I should become a better writer than before I stop it should be second nature. I could keep going but I am going to stop at 225 words

When I first got down here I thought I was lost. If you ever listen to the people the boys are always calling each others foos like that is hot or something and when somebody called me a foo I was ready to throw down (That is fight for the square that are out there) but after a while when I started to understand the concept of the word I felt a little bit better. Another thing everbody swear that the plush is the hypest thing that is alive but evertime I hear about it people be like it was wack I be af fire and ice and it be better than anything else so I am still not up on game with the plush I guess it is one of those you gotta be their to feel the hype and the crunk but why don’t the people that tell me it was wack don’t feel the hype that is something that still puzzles me. I know it is old but I have found a new song and that song belongs to by boy Ne-yo and the name of the song is Go On Girl there really is no meaning behind the song because I liked his song addicted and if you heard that song you already know what it is but he is just on of those singers that I like and everthing he comes out with I like I do not know why but that is how it is. He was an instant favorite from the first time I heard him I know I am not the only one that thinks that. more inofrmation

Man it just goes to show that some states are richer that other states I was talking with a couple of my boys and we were talking about my paper the minimum wage thing right. And my boy was like Massachusetts or just Boston itself has a minimum wage of 8 and some change I don’t really know the exact number because I was not taking notes or trying to quote him seriously but think that is like 5 dollars away from a good paying job. That is really a lot of money think people are always working at the smallest places just think you getting paid 8 dollars and change to bag someone groceries that is nice I could do that I am used to getting 6.00 for doing that and that is a to dollar increase that is a lot I thought I was getting under paid and after hearing that I serious believe that I was jipped a couple of dollars and that adds up ova time. This was a summer ago so I am sure that both of them have went up over time so think they are getting paid a lot to do some of the simplest jobs and they do not have a college degree. Being a teen still in high school or having a summer job they are living the good live they got a lot of paper in their pockets.

my spring break

Spring break was one of the craziest weeks ever. The way I had it planned was already something crazy I made plans to go to Boston, Massachusetts. Come on now I do not even live there I am from Kansas City Missouri why would I waste my time up north. Well I did and it got more exciting as I went along. I spent 2 days in Boston then I later to a road trip to Vermont and that was a shock it just keeps getting colder and colder no matter where I go. But what stood out to me was the fact that there were very few blacks that were attending Middlebury college in Vermont and most of the blacks were gay. That college already had a high level of gay but I did not think that it was that serious. I was very wrong for thinking that. But what was the biggest surprise beside the gay blacks were the police officers. They were friendly they had parties and the police would stop by take a drink and leave like they are close friends. Weed is damn near legal up there to they smoke it so freely and they will say very lil to you man Vermont is one of the craziest places alive skip Memphis Tenn

Getting started

Get started after a long period of rest is the hardest thing to do. Spring break really set me back because I did no school work over the break and now that I have work in front of me it is like why!!???? It is really showing in the type of work that I am producing right now. For example writing these blogs was breeze to me, now that I took that week off I am freaking out I do not have nothing to write about. I feel like quitting I never thought that writing 200 words would be this hard and right now I am at 109 what am I going to do for the next 81 words this is exactly what I am talking about I it should be a slow progress into getting back into the flow of school work to much at one time can cause a student to repress and not do any of it. I the first week of class after any type of break. The days I the most are Mondays!!!!.... Thought I was done I did to but sadly this is only 180 yea I need 20 more this is a double negative it the first day back from spring break and it is a Monday on top the is going to be a long week!!!

Intro

There is going to be a new thing coming around and it is all in favor of the ones that are in need of more money and that is always good when people are talking money. This new thing still goes toward minimum wage and the one who make minimum wage. It is called a minimum wage calculator and it is made to calculate the amount of money that is need for you and your family to live and this is made to help you living standards so keep that in mind. Going very little in detail it is said in the introduction to the calculator it calculates the cost to live in the community all of your expenses and typical wages in the location that you have chose to live in. From the reading that I have done they are still working on this calculator to make it full proof and it will not be up and running just yet. This calculator has been thought and tested back in July of 2007.

help

I know we are supposed to use this for important work but to all this may concern this is important. As some of you know by reading my blogs I am doing my research paper and I know that we have study groups to work with but I want an honest opinion from outside of my study group or at least some extra advice. I am stuck in on that long A(word) writing assignment that Wendy assigned us. I am doing my paper over minimum wage and I do not know what else to talk about I got some information for other states comparing then to each other somebody please tell me something what should I do this is a big topic I know but sometimes with a topic so big it makes it hard to find a starting point. I want to throw some talk about living wage in there but I need a little bit more information on living wage as well. I did not think that something like this would be this hard but I guess with writers block all is possible. I know we are supposed to use this for important work but to all this may concern this is important. As some of you know by reading my blogs I am doing my research paper and I know that we have study groups to work with but I want an honest opinion from outside of my study group or at least some extra advice. I am stuck in on that long A(word) writing assignment that Wendy assigned us. I am doing my paper over minimum wage and I do not know what else to talk about I got some information for other states comparing then to each other somebody please tell me something what should I do this is a big topic I know but sometimes with a topic so big it makes it hard to find a starting point. I want to throw some talk about living wage in there but I need a little bit more information on living wage as well. I did not think that something like this would be this hard but I guess with writers block all is possible. Lets compare

Comparing the minimum wage of Tennessee to another state my home state of Missouri, there minimum wage is has just been moved up 15 cents it was at one point 6.50 and now the new minimum wage is 6.65. This 15 cent increase just took place in the beginning of the year in January. Along with a couple of other states made this change as well. “Missouri state statute, Section 290.502.2, mandates that the Director of the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations adjust the state minimum wage according to the change in the cost of living. Published by the Department of Labor, the CPI (Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers) serves as the basis for calculating the new rate.” (Amelia Figueroa, National Business Compliance Department). Missouri seems like it is the place to be right now because of the high minimum wage pay but it is written and stated that Missouri lives on a Living Wage standard which enables them to raise the prices to meet living standards if the prices rise. They can also lower the pay of the price of living falls. So you will always be on a living standards nothing more and nothing lesss.

I am going to spend the next 200 words talking about nothing. I really just wanted to see if I could drag out nothing, by talking about nothing and so far I feel strong in my abilities to talk/ type for 200 words. I know by now you are asking why am doing this but does it really matter, maybe I do not have a life or maybe it is because I am bored and I have nothing else to do. If you can not tell by now I can talk non-stop and I can talk about anything if you can not talk with me it is because I do not like you or I do not want to talk at that time but I am one the easiest person to talk to I always got something to say. I got that written on my profile on the blogger website, if you read my profile, if you have not read it yet you should, but I tell you now some of you may think different about me when you get done reading it. But the truth be told I really do not care because I went 19 years without knowing you and I can go the rest of my life. Well I am ova the 200 hundred mark so I will end this in 3…2…1...bye.

Mid terms

This is one of the craziest times of the year and I do not mean the holidays. It time for mid terms and that alone is enough to make a sane man go nuts. I am one of those people because I have about 4 finals and I have 5 classes so you can imagine how that goes for me. I am a freshman and I run track so not only am I not a vet. in the when it comes to taking mid terms and preparing for them but I am also on a time schedule so I have to force extra time in to study than that of a student that does not have to worry about track practice. Studying is not that hard the worst part is studying for the all 4 at once and not getting confused and staying focus mentally and never mixing classes when it comes to taking the test in all of your classes. I never experienced anything like this when I was in high school and when it came time to do it I could not believe it is really happening college is the truth I hurt so bad I wanna go back home I can not do this.

tennessee minimum wage

Doing more research for the topic of minimum wage I decided to take it to take a state wide approach and the research show that minimum wage in the state of Tennessee is 5.15 and this was in May of 2007 it was a 2 year long investigation that came out to be a violation of the federal Tennessee minimum wage law. Thanks to the ABC Professional Tree Service they are the ones who started the 2 year investigation from back in August of 2004 and they found all the problems with the states that are not following the minimum wage laws. There was a Fair Standard Act that made the minimum wage of 5.15 cover a 40 a week period and any time over that were entitled to be paid with the equivalence of an hour and a half for every hour work when doing overtime. As I continued to read Tennessee was not the only state that violated the Fair Standard Act there were 16 other states that also were involved in the 5.15 minimum wage outrage. The following states were: Florida, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, North Caroline, Tennessee, South Carolina, New Jersey, Cincinnati, Ohio, Virginia, Maryland and New Jersey. And they were forced to pay 1.8 million to 2,501 employees according to the US department of Law

Memphis minimum wage

Reading Memphis and Shelby County Living Wages Campaigns article it talks about the fact that people work hard only to bring home the minimum amount of money for their family. The economy has risen to the point that minimum wage can not support one person living in an apartment on there own. The price for living gets higher and higher each year and the minimum wage does not to rise with the prices that inflate in society. The wants of an average person are endless and the income amount at minimum wage is very limited and demand is always rising that gives store chance to flirt with their prices. Coalition efforts of 42 local congregations and faith groups, community organizations, and labor unions feel that no one should work full-time and still be poor at the end of the day. With that being said and talking to heart Memphis and the Shelby County Government are making an attempt stop in the act of subsidizing poverty to enforce paying health insured workers with a $10 an hour living wage and the ones without health insurance $12 dollars.

minimum wage

The minimum amount still is not what we call today as living wage. These are two completely different expenses. One is just a talk of money that you have but is not enough to make a living off that particular amount. Living wage is the amount of money that you make that meets ends it is enough to get you to your next pay check without worries if you will have enough to pay bills. Living wage is that much better than minimum wage but that is something people should not want to live by because there is not much money left over after all your expenses have been paid for. Minimum wage is on every job, but the lower the job is the lower the minimum wage gets. For example a Burger King minimum wage will be a lot lower than the minimum wage of a doctor or a dentist. And the minimum wage of a doctor and dentist will be enough to live from but the minimum wage from burger king may not be enough for you to live off. Which makes living wage a more important investment that should be taking into effect in the future to help those that are in need of the extra money.

Lifes test

Life in general is not fair and I understand that but how much unfairness does one person have to go through before they start looking for a change. I tell myself all the time when something goes bad for me I get up and try it again. I learn from my mistakes and try not to make the same mistake twice. That helps a lot but when there are problems all around there is nothing you can do about it but move. Things that happen are not always your fault others can and will provoke you to take actions and that is not fair to those that get caught and get punished. I think to myself I know I am not the problem all the time. Sometimes a change is needed and once you leave that bad situation, good things come as a result of you leaving. Sometimes you are put in a situation that is a test and if you show that you can overcome any type of adversity then you will be repaid for all that has happened to you. Your rewards can be endless, and others it is just you in a bad situation and it is up to you to learn from old situations and leave with a better knowledge of life and experience of what good and bad come when you do this and do that.

liars

I can not stand people that lie to me, honestly who can say that you would rather take the truth than be lied to. I do not know anybody that wants to be lied to. Well I know someone that lies like there is no tomorrow and it is very irritating to listen to. This man will make a deal and will go back on his word. Sorry if you can not understand what I am saying but I got to use pronouns so the person that I am talking about will not find out that I am talking about them. We were promised new things and most importantly opportunity, that is something that I feel like I was robbed out of I can here think that I had a opportunity to do something and now being here for a couple of months I think that it was a lie and that is something that hurt me the most. I think that I speak for everyone when I say that actions speak louder than words. That is want I want right now action all these lies have got to stop or that is going to end up with a lot of people up set and lot of people looking for more realistic opportunities elsewhere.

ballet

I am in dance class and a while ago I had to go to a dance performance and it was called Abundance it was great. I never knew dance or ballet dancing would be like this. It was a great new experience and I loved it yea I know it sounds a lil hard to believe coming from me. But I really enjoyed it I would really like to back to another on but I still would not pay to see it. I still feel asleep in it but it pasted the time that maybe why I enjoyed it so much but who cares I came sat and watched and still I would not mind doing at again. I like the whole thing especially the parts that I was awake in man those were some good parts. Next time I go I will try to stay awake for the whole thing it was for a grade to so yea you betta believe that I will be awake and taking note next time around. And when I started to write my paper I lost everthing so I had to start writing my paper with no notes or anything that was one of the hardest things to do but I got it done just like a vet would I pull thro when the time comes but I will tell everone go to a ballet it is fun to watch

Cramp

I run track play football and everthing and the worst part about both of these sports is not losing or the practice it is the cramps that come with playing the sports. I am a pretty big person and do not meant big as in fat I am big as in muscular I am about 5’9 and weight about 177 and I am mostly muscle well okay all muscle. And the worst thing about that is the water you gotta keep your water in take very high or else you will cramp up something decent and getting ride of those things are the hardest things to do and when you do not have any one around you to stretch you man you are out of luck. For those of you who never had one they hurt badly. They are worse than anything you can image whatever hurts you the most physically multiply that but 1 million and that is how much those things hurt. I was playing basketball to day and I was leaving I was running to the computer lab to finish my blogs and the train came as well as my cramp and I had no one around to help me you can image how that was but the cramp went away as you can see I finish my work and everthing cramps can sometimes prevent you from moving and that is what happen to me take my advise do not get big and if you do drink lots of water.

Dont get mad

Anger is something that everybody has but why is it that when people get mad they have a trouble controlling it. You think the older you get the easier it would be to control and that is not the case. It seems the older you get the easier it is for you to get mad I am guessing that is something that comes with the territory of getting older and the consequences get greater with the age. When you were a lil kid you were able to throw a temper tantrum and threw things but the older you get you gotta out that anger into something productive or else you will release it in other was and you will end up hurting someone or something. You see that the ones that you care about the most are the ones that can make you mad easier than easier than anyone else that you can think of. The ones you care about can drive you to kill a lot faster than the ones that you do not even know just because you expect more from them and you have to find a way to get back at them. Somebody please tell me is this true or not and why?

Reading this article the first thing that jumped out to me was how the United States had to force people to vote. That is something that I thought I would never see, I know that some people thought that there was no point in voting but reading this made it seem like half of the people in the States decided not to vote for one reason or another. No one really can to mind when I was reading, if anything just anyone that is trying to run for office they would be trying to tell anyone to get out and vote because that increase their chance to win. That is the whole point of the people voting, proving to the United States that I am a better president than you and while you are in office rubbing that in the opponents face. That is just my opinion I know if I was in office I would be doing that exact thing. I really do not think that election are made for everybody and I think that I am one of those people that really are not meant to vote I have a little history in the politics and I have made up my mind to not continue my pursuit to become some kind of office holder. In my opinion the vote goes to whoever can tell the best lie and sometime the good guy will win but it does not happen enough times for me to get up and try to vote and the fact that I am a minority that also make it harder for me to get my voice heard. All the election and speeches that I used to listening to were lies and I really do not like the idea of being lied to that is why voting is not meant for everyone.
This particular article has an audience to all who are looking for background information on what it was like to vote, and for the ones that are of age to vote that are registered to vote and do not vote, also included the one that have not yet registered to vote. Really it is just commercial selling and that is something that everybody has to do just to get their point across. This world is full of competition and it will never get old as long as others have their own point of view. There is nothing particular to say about this situation because there will always be competitors, that drives people to want become the best in what they do, that is why they need votes and the people to participate in the events such as voting. The audience is being targeted for the commercials are for the ones that are not buying the product, they want them to stop buying the others and start buying theirs. My ending point after reading this is that everyone should vote even if you do not want to or like to vote it is law. In the text they made people and the ones that did had problems with the government. That is something that I would not want to deal with so I would have ended up voting. Just because when it comes to the government the people are not willing to stand up for the rights and everything else that they believe in and deserve.
The government is in control even though it should be the other way around. I never would have guessed how long ago it was written but I am surprised at how recent it was that the people did not want to vote that just makes it irrelevant for those blacks that fought for the rights of blacks and the woman to vote. I really am not that good in history but I am sure around that time woman both black and white or just blacks in general, finally got the right to vote. So when the thought of people that do not want to comes to mind I really do not think that it is the people in the States I think that it is the people that were running in the election. They were the ones that really needed to be forced to change was the government not the people. The people should not be afraid of their government the government should be afraid of the people.

Athlete are the real students

I am a freshman here at the University of Memphis and after the first semester I think to myself how do other students complain on how hard college is. I am a student athlete and I have a 3.1 gpa and it would be higher if I didn’t have to go to practice every day from 3 to 5 that takes a lot of time and effort. If you’re not in graduate school then you really don’t have room to talk this junk about a job that is something that you chose to do tough luck that means nothing, quit the job, that doesn’t hurt you status at the University of Memphis. Being here on a track scholarship I can not throw track away I got standards to meet and keeping my grades up is on of those standards to make the track team. I think students that take 3 or 4 class should easily have a high gpa way higher than mine if not you do not need to be in college. Athletes are not stupid they just don’t have the time to do the things that the other students do so whenever you think that college is to hard and you want to drop out and leave think of those other students the student athletes think about what they are going through and then think again about quitting or dropping out of college.

What does LOUD mean not the regular loud as in the noise that you make loud I mean who is writing all this stuff on the walls of the University of Memphis. That is something that you can not playoff. People are going to start asking questions eventually on what all that stuff means. I know that I am, don’t you think it is kind of hard for whomever to spray paint all this stuff without getting caught. Really how do you not see who is doing this people are out all hours of the night going home to work or even go study I know somebody has to see something. I know that I was on my way to my dorm and I saw a writing that said this is not art, that is a clue that person must have been in art class. Later I saw another that had a teacher’s name and what appears that the teacher was a the reason to why the student was acting so rebellious, so that narrows it down a lot from the whole campus to the students in her art class. Now knowing all of that information you think that the person that behind it would be caught. Right? Wrong! That person is still on the loose and I am sure that the teacher that made that student mad is going to get a surprise if that person is not stopped real quick.

Wendy's class

Man I was in class today and my teacher Wendy she made us write down some sentences and man everyone that she wrote down she butchered. No joke we have a paper to write and we can not use the word many, she says “That word has no meaning” makes no sense right. I know but in an essence she is right you got to be in that class to understand it but she speaks the truth when she talks. Another thing she says you will have to rewrite that paper if she thinks you need to do it and this paper is no joke this paper is like 40% of our grade so just imagine what this does to the class. I still do not think this is necessary but she is going to make us do it. I teacher and the class be wilden out and they are crazy. She gave us 3 sentences to look at all was worse than the other she had the class so scared to write sentences because we thought she was going to kill what we thought we the best sentence alive. The class is at 8 in the morning that makes it worse and nobody up but she wakes us up in the funniest way.

Why do you enter pt. 2

This goes back to the other election between Obama and Clinton. Why do you enter and they try to drop out people are look forward to voting for you and you dropping out limits the number of votes that come whether you have a good reason to leave the election or not you should not be able to there should be a fine or punishment for those that try and drop out of an election. This election there is no point of the man in second place to want to drop out of the race and you’re only down by one why would you give up like that if you feel you’re the best for the job then go for it. That is the most irritating thing that bothers me when it comes to elections when you go around asking people if they vote or not and they say that did not I am sure that they would tell you that the person that they were going to vote for dropped out of the race. I do not know if that is me does anybody else think or feel the same way I do I do not know somebody tell please.

Safety

Yesterday Tuesday February 5th It was a bad day in between 4 and 7 and 9 and sometime around 10 or 11 the weather was so bad but anybody that is in Memphis know that first had on what is happening because they were probably in it but there were signs of four yes four tornados in Tennessee. That is scary I do not care who you are that is not something that anybody wants to here. As a result of this bad weather people have lost there lives to my knowledge there was a person trapped under a bridge and someone else that was trapped inside a shoe store. And you can think to yourself why did these people go out in the weather like this were was the rest of the people in the store or was the person by themselves and why? Being at the university the safety that we had was a basement for the resident why did the one under the bridge try and leave the place they were in the weather we had. Safety is a big issue I know you got family and friends that you care about but you really got to be smart on what you should and should and should not do in the middle of a tornado.

Nashville money supply

Nashville is supposedly one of the highest places in the nation in the category of bankruptcy. The people do not have the right job to pay for the houses that they live in, they are spending more than there income and it is coming back to haunt them. It really is not the fault of the Nashville people it is the ones that say how much a person can get paid they do not pay enough. People have other things they have to do they have families that need them they can not put in the work that they would like to, to help bring in more money. In the words of William L. Norton III, a Nashville bankruptcy attorney says it is the high ownership rate down here in the south. If they know what the problem is why are they not taking the time out to fix the problem. Some people feel like they have to provide for their family and when the legal way of getting money is not working they tend to go into some other living style some rob banks for the money some rob people and stores all in attempted to make a living for there family. The government of Nashville is responsible for the down fall of Memphis and all that happens in it because they are not helping in the change in what is going on in Nashville

Superbowl champs

The Undefeated New England Patriots was given there first lost on Sunday, in the famous Superbowl XLII to the New York Giants by the score or 17-14. It was great game the game was very exciting to all who watched it. Some thought that the game was going to be a shoe in for the New England Patriots because of their record of going 18-0 all the way to the superbowl and losing the superbowl in the final seconds of the game. Me on the other hand I was rooting for the Giants the whole game and I knew that Eli was on a some other stuff when he played that game Sunday night when he threw his first pick of the game he was able to bounce back and lead his team. It felt like Eli was listening to what I was saying after a bad play I would yell at him to relax, breathe and scout the field before the hick of the football and he did. Eli scrambled breaking a couple of tackles and that was when I knew the game was over and they were going to win Eli played a game outside himself you could not tell with Manning was out there playing that game. The game was everything you are looking for in a superbowl type game. I can not wait till next year Let’s go Broncos

all debts are paid

My family is the most important thing that I have in this world. They are my best friends, everthing that I am looking for When I need someone to talk to they are always there for me. Whenever I call they will run a mile just so see me smile, and I would do the same for them. When I call they answer the phone with cheer it does not matter the time that I call whether it is 3 in the morning or 3 in the afternoon. My family is always ready to talk to me and for full all of my needs and wants not because it is there job but because they want to and I live them for that and all the things that they done for me in the past and what they will do in the future and the time to come. I am trying to pay respect to them by finishing college and without them not having to play any more money for the rest of the years I have at the university. And I am not done with my first year, A challenge right yea I know but I am up for it. I owe it to them and “all I got in this world is my word and my balls and I do not break them for no one” Scarface!!!!

Why did you enter

Why do you enter a race then drop out, especially they presidential election what is the point. You were elected to run for office why would you feel it is best for you to drop out so what if your not winning you need to take the good with the bad and that shows your true color when you quit something that is going to be with you for the rest of your life there is no hiding that. People were going to vote for you and that is why half the people that need to vote do not vote because the ones they plan on voting for always drop out of the election I think there should be a rule about leaving in the middle or something like that it is not worth it. The race is not over until the last vote is counted. The more people that are running makes it easier for the votes but harder for the candidates’ to get votes but that is what we want who wants an easy race especially for something like president we need all the people to run as possible so the best person male or female will win. Maybe that is just me but if you are going to drop out of something as big as this you do not need to lead anybody or anything.

Superbowl sunday

The superbowl should become a national holiday. If you look carefully at the way people prepare and advertise the superbowl you would think so too. People make commercials a then they rate the commercials from the best to the worst of all times and they spend so much money on air time they get big name football players to advertise the commercials just to make people watch the superbowl. People invite friends over to their house throw parties some of them even get drunk all for a football game. If you’re not a big football fan you will be for this particular football. Everyone talks about and buts votes in for the team to win like it is an election for the next president. People make bets for the winner of the game so are willing to lose all they have just for a game, it is that important for some people. Next to Christmas and thanksgiving and yours or your lover’s birthday the superbowl is something that you can not miss. If the superbowl was able to become a pay-per-view event a lot of people would be willing to break bread (spend money) just to they can watch a football game. Most people would agree with me when I say that the superbowl should become a national holiday. Everything should be shutdown just for this event just as if it was a real life holiday.

What is wrong with the Government

As of the 28th of January 2008 they have finally given the number of positions available for the City of Memphis government. It is good that they want to try and help the city of Memphis. But why do they wait so late before they broadcast the information that the people need to know. Why is the government so slow? It seems like the government is just slow in general they are slow in catching the bad guy in a even if they have all the evidence they need to put the criminal away they find a way to screw things up. Now I am starting to think that they it is not the legal system to blame I think it is the people that work there they play some part in this I do not know what it is but I know they have to play something. Whenever money is on the line a lot of things can happen it could be enough to keep people mouths closed for weeks, months or even years. You think jobs government jobs would be more blunt in out for all who qualify to try and fill that position but no it does not work like that. Why does the government treat us they way they do? Please somebody help me with this.

Senator Barack Obama has won South Carolina, but for some reason they are saying that the blacks that vote are not enough to help him win the election. Others have tried and failed but that is not all the blacks in the states. Some of the minorities, blacks in general have not registered to vote and the ones that are registered to vote think that their vote will not make a difference. That is not the true as an individual that maybe true but as a whole minorities can change the world. It will take some think but we have to trust and use what we have and get everryone out to vote and it starts with you and in order for the world to change you have to want the change for yourself and if the change is worth fighting for then you should go out and fight for the rights that you want and deserve. I am not telling you to go out and vote for Senator Barack Obama but you got to realize, that one vote could be the difference in the one you want in office and the one that you do not want in office. When it is all said in done you will have no regrets you did all you could if the one you wanted did not win relax wait for years and vote again til you get it right and the states get it right.

Why does college cost so much? When I was in elementary school on up to my senior in high school they only thing that I paid for was a lost book, pictures or a field trip. Now we gotta pay like 800 dollars a class you ever asked yourself where that money goes. You see the cars that the teacher e driving and it is like wow all that money and they pull up in something fresh. (A good looking car) Now all the students here at the university can think of something to do with 800 dollars per student especially with the auditorium class that is a lot of bread. (money) You think being a teacher would be a good job you get the weekends off summers off and you classes go as long as you plan them. With all these perks you think being a teacher would be a good job for anyone to have. But that is not the case in any case all the teachers say that they do it for the love of teaching I guess you gotta be a teacher to understand that cause I hate to teach other something that is not my style. Any if you could tell me what is the real reason teachers become teachers?

Old schoo video games

When you think of video games you may think of the new and updated models like the playstation 3 X-bow 360 and whatever the youngsters play now. All the games and that come out that you gotta but for yourself and or friends and family wether you were buying madden football for your son or husband if not that you were buying man of honor for the you son who wanted to become a navy seal when he got older. We can look at what we have now but let us go back a couple of years way back to old video games. What happened to the old type of games, the kind that everybody knew how to play and wanted to play. Everybody likes to play the super Nintendo, or the Sega genesis those were the good games. Now this could just be me but I would have to say that Mario, Tetris and the champion of all games would have to be Pacman. Oh yea I took it there, I do not know that it was about that yellow circle eating these little balls while running for some ghostly goons but it was so addicted I never met a person that said they did like to play any of those games everybody played those and were hooked at first sight. Hey I could be wrong but eh not likely. Everybody loved those games what do you think?

Why do people look in the wrong places to find someone to look up to? When someone tries to look up to someone they tend to act just like the person that is mentoring them. There is always that one person that seem to look up to the wrong person and if is not stopped at an early stage it can be very very bad for all who come in contacts with that seeker. Not all people are like that there are still some good people out there in this world that will make great leaders and still people decide not to look to them and go towards the ones that do not always make the right decision. The trouble makers they are poison to anything and everything they come in contact with. People say that they have control of themselves and there actions but when you are influenced so easily by others to change from one thing to another, how much control do you really have or your actions. That is the real question? Should we really blame ourselves or the role model that we chose to look to when we get into trouble? Who should we punish and why should that person get punished instead of the other?

Why have A GPA

Why do we have GPA’s that is a waste of time as long as I past the class what is the point of the 4.0 grading scale that is a load of crap who cares so what you get to sit on the stage on your graduation and look at everybody but if we turn our seats we all can see everybody. Me I got other things to worry about than my GPA I am a track athlete I got to practice everyday and in order for me to go 2 the track meets I have to keep a high enough GPA it would be easier if we all got a P pass of F fail grading scale. When you are limited with your time as long as you pass the class how cares you will learn with experience you can not put experience in a classroom. Look at the positive and negative say you’re a doctor and you fail your doctor exam who cares you will get better with live with live experience. You may kill a couple of people but if the doctor is willing to take the risk why should the patience.

Why does math class go past the eighth grade? If you do not plan on majoring in something that involves math such as business or accounting, what is the point of forcing the rest of the students to take a math course beyond eighth grade level? It is a waste of my time and the rest of the people that do not need anymore math classes. I could have a real high Gpa in school but all because of my math class it brings me down so much. Math has to be the worst subject alive whoever made up the number system should have been shot on the spot. Isaac Newton was not a genius he was bored so he decided to start playing with numbers. I have taken college math and math in high school and I could be a lot happier without going to those classes in school. I think most people would agree with me when I say “I can add, subtract, divided and multiply what more do I need. I can count money is that not the most important thing I can count for hours I just do not want to why do I need to know what E= who cares honestly, and with all I learned when I was in middle school. High school math is just something that gives people a job when they can not do anything else but play with numbers.

Today is Dr. Martin Luther King day and today is very special, but how special is today if you do not take the time out to go and pay contribute to the man who made all of today possible. I volunteered to go to the Martin Luther King museum today and it was the first time I have ever been to his museum, it was it a learning experience for me. I really could not believe my eyes. I really think this day is taken for granted, have you ever thought about how people spend there free time on Martin Luther King day? When I was at the museum I saw a line of people backed up for hours that is good people want to come and learn or teach others about a great man that was shot down. I man that put his life on the line so we can all be equal and live together like we were meant to. But what about the people that do not know anything about him or the things that he have done for us. The people that have not been to his museum are really missing out on something that should be mandatory to know. In my opinion I think it is very important that people go to his museum and learn whatever they can about Dr. Martin Luther King. Learning is something that you never stop doing and you can never stop learning about Dr. Martin Luther King.
